The main aim of this experience 3 is released for getting involve with the sense of "power". For my personal conprehension, by understanding of news article, The definition of "power" is reflected in a characteristic way among each client.For example, the power of Ratan Tata can be concluded as "ambition" , while the power is delivered in a total different way in Zhang Yin's context, which is hidden in the changing rights of women in China. Also, it can be believed that the way of releasing power differ between gender.
Therefore, this is one of my motivations by challenging to combine two different sorts of power together in order to make design expressive.
Althouth the power from this two clients may be incomatible by itself, the power are attampted to add up through the arrangement in purpose. "The Power of Lines" is the major concern through the design. Basically, the two different design styles are linked by the common axis in both roofs of spaces, which symbolically get the cross in the centre of two buidling, seemingly is going to pull the two buildings together in the middle, and also has been highlighted by the bright lights running along the axises. The ambition reminds the power of king. Historically, people showed their status normally by building up palace, castle or memorial, etc. many of These powerful buildings were aliened on a central axis, forming a balance arrangment, it seems reflects its central power or dominance, in another word.eg. The Washington memorial, fountain and white house geographyically sits in a central axis, reflecting its hidden power.
Analogically, the line has been used in a similar way into the Ratan Tata's space in order to achieve the aim.
However, The form of Zhang Yin's space is constructed in a new way, although it is linked by a common axis on the roof. the different oriented L shape and different arised levels seems convey the different education level that chinese women received as well as different social status they have, and the viewer will be lead to each sub-space by the series of constant moving elevators, as if saying the role of women in China is still keep changing and unstoppable, also growing up, that's the power potentially.
